Within the Group, you will join the Group Underwriting Office's Short Tail underwriting Team.
Your job and daily missions :
The P&C business is core to the AXA Group and is operated in 20+ territories, with a wide mix of operating models, market shares and stages of development.
Group Underwriting Office is responsible for :
- Steering and controlling a sustainable and profitable growth of AXA P&C activities worldwide, promoting excellence on both risk management and technical areas. This encompasses underwriting governance and rules, PAP (Product approval Process), PMP (Portfolio Management Process), and requires strong and tight cooperation with claims management, reserving, cat modeling and reinsurance cover.
- Structuring the second line of defense organization and missions by developing, facilitating, and monitoring an effective risk and control framework (Exposure monitoring, Risk Appetite allocation and adherence, Reinsurance appropriateness).
- Support underwriting initiatives on structured solutions and/or use of new technologies and Artificial Intelligence on underwriting process.
- Initiate or promote innovative insurance solutions supporting Construction adaptation to climate change.
The Group Underwriting Expert for Short Tail Commercial Lines will notably support the Group Head of Short Tail, who is the referent for Short Tail underwriting for commercial lines : Property, Construction, Marine, Aviation, Niche specialties. Group exposures amount to ~ €6 Trillion (insured Values)
Short Tail underwriting is also leading the NatViews program for an optimized Natural Events exposures management.
The P&C Group Underwriting Expert for Short Tail Commercial lines interlocutors are :
- Group Underwriting Office, AXA Ceded Reinsurance, Group Chief Underwriting Officer, Public Affairs, Group Operations, Group finance, Group Legal, Group Risk Management
- All P&C entities (over 40 entities) or regions/markets or Centers of Expertise of the Group, especially Underwriting communities
Context and Major Challenges
Group Short Tail Underwriting is in charge to drive AXA Group Strategy in all its dimensions.
- Reviewing Entities and suggest recommendations for improvement
- Promoting Technical expertise and growth initiatives
Key Accountabilities
The P&C Group Underwriting Expert for Short Tail is in charge of the following :
(1) Actively BE part of the NatViews' project including cross functions in the Head quarter (Risk Management, Finance, Pricing, Ceded Re). IT aims at rolling out a 12-24 months roadmap with AXA Entities (worldwide) so the practice around Nat Cat is improved along several dimensions :
- Dynamic accumulation management
- NatCat technical pricing and pricing adequacy
- Data quality : address quality, geocoding accuracy (with DCP use case V0), risk qualifiers.
- Claims data quality : perils tagging and coverages.
In parallel, support each entity working on :
- A Portfolio shaping strategy' (linking their book profile per peril with the plan strategy where to grow/where to BE more selective or shrink)
- Leveraging GRM Risks Models outputs and GAIA in their local NatCat strategy
- Implementation of Group Nat Cat guidelines
(2) Support the Group Head of Short Tail for the coordination of Entity reviews (In Dept Reviews, Technical Reviews, Preliminary reviews),
(3) Support the group Head of Short Tail For the coordination of PMP processes in its underwriting dimensions,
The role includes also ad'hoc transversal missions improving processes, tools and Best practices, leveraging Group/Local initiatives around tools, platforms, technologies, data and any other AXA Initiatives for risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting within Short Tail perimeter.
