Director of Quality & Food Safety
Location: France - Vannes (56000) OR Chateau-Thierry (02400)
Position Summary:
This position is part of the leadership team, reporting directly to the Global Director of Quality & Food Safety Animal Nutrition and is an integral member of the EMEA E2E Leadership Team.
The role provides expert strategic advice for the management and oversight of the organization's quality and food safety (QFS) needs. The Director of Quality & Food Safety plays a critical role in evaluating, developing, implementing, and executing corporate, divisional, and local quality programs and initiatives. He/she will coach, mentor, and support team members—whether directly reporting to them or as quality professionals within the broader EMEA E2E organization—ensuring both individual and company goals are achieved.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in animal food processing and a proven track record of driving positive change. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as this role requires effective collaboration across various levels and functions within the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to meet the QFS needs across all assigned facilities, fostering collaborative partnerships with various groups and offering operational leadership, including but not limited to the development and implementation of SOPs at the facilities.
- Cultivate a strong QFS culture that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate QFS programs and procedures across sites, identifying opportunities to standardize and integrate processes regionally.
- Act as the subject matter expert for QFS compliance, being the key contact and decision-maker when major issues arise.
- Lead CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) implementation for recurring and significant quality events, ensuring root causes are identified and effectively resolved.
- Assess food safety risks based on species mix and collaborate with facilities, divisions, and corporate experts to develop and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
- Lead necessary steps with raw material suppliers to ensure QFS compliance and standards are met.
- Drive continuous improvement in QFS-related systems, technologies, and metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to the achievement of corporate goals by improving defined KPIs.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in quality or engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in quality assurance/quality control methodologies and processes, food safety plans, and Quality Management Systems within the animal food and/or food processing industries.
- In-depth knowledge of local and regional animal food regulations.
- Proficiency in French and English is essential.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) across all levels of the organization, as well as with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Proven experience in team building and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, with a proven track record of driving change and building internal and external relationships.
- Successful experience working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage ambiguity effectively.
- Willingness to take ownership and act independently when necessary.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with computer databases.
- This position requires a minimum of 40% travel to support on-site quality activities across the defined region
