Classification F11
This position is available within the Technologies and Sustainable (LT&S) Development department, precisely in the New Lens Technologies and Prototyping (NLTP) department. The team's mission is to develop new ophthalmic lens manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing technologies (the position in question is focused on inkjet technologies). These developments involve two main areas: processes and associated materials. In this context, the role of the Material development Engineer is to carry out identified technical studies to develop the chemistry, to bring them to a level of maturity and robustness that will enable their industrialization potential to be assessed. His work must consider both the constraints associated with inkjet technology and those linked to the technical requirements of ophthalmic lenses, while also considering work carried out in parallel to develop process brick. His or her work brings a wealth of knowledge and know-how to R&D, through a better understanding of the physical-mechanical phenomena involved.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES:
Within the material/chemistry team, his or her work will focus on the development of new inkjet ophtalmique material, having as responsibilities:
1. Study management Integrate study objectives and identify the technical strategy to be implemented. Prepare the UV sensitive inks formulation. Characterize the physical and chemical properties of the liquid and solid materials. Contribute to the setting up and the test plans running. Analyze, synthesize, and communicate results to the team and managers (oral & written, in French and English).
2. Expertise development Develop in-depth knowledge of in-house development already carried out and equipment used. Maintain a technology watch (bibliography via scientific articles and newsletters, participation in conferences, trade fairs, etc.).
3. HSE Ensure that work is carried out in compliance with HSE rules.
4. Innovation protection Monitor competitor patents, draft memos for patent applications
5. Contact with suppliers Maintain regular contact with active suppliers. Identify relevant new suppliers.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
6. Master degree – Engineering/Material/Chemistry/Polymer
7. Knowledge of chemistry, physico-chemistry of polymer materials are mandatory
8. at least 1 year experience in material development, ideally on polymer field
9. Experience on resin formulation
10. Experience on materials (liquid and solid) characterization
11. High taste for experimental work
12. Basic knowledge of liquid resin rheology
13. Knowledge of the ophthalmic lens industry is a plus
